In the 25 years that I have been a practicing Christian I have tried to make a sacrifice for Lent, sometimes chocolate,often wine which I do like!!! Lately I've tried to do a positive act as well; not with much success. This year I have decided not to read any novels, and turn to the many devotional books I claim not to have time to read- A two in one commitment- but will I give up reading altogether? We have 2 Pam Roberts in Filey Parish so we distinguish between them by (HS) and (QS) alluding to their addresses!
