Filey Bay- Orchid

No sweeter duo met till I lie down beside these waters
And count the revolving tides last seen
Before our eyes met thine
T’was on a hillside so beset,
The Northland coast so fine
But here beneath the chalkhills soft
Lies plaintiff’s thorny crown

Behold the eyes full and no mean seat
Plays out aloud to call the cry
From a fellow’s hardier lines we set
To grow undisturbed among this grass
And collar the dwindling land’s inlet
Alone, bequeathed, beset, I rest divine
in noble robes aligned.
