The BBC comedy Sugartown which was filmed in Filey earlier this year will be on Television on Sunday 24th July at 10.25pm.

During the series the "quirky" locals of Sugartown, a "fading" small seaside town in the North of England, must fight to save their community when prodigal son, Max, returns with controversial plans for the town's regeneration.

Filey has also attracted interest from a number of other film crews. Nick Crane the former presenter of Coast was seen filming in the town earlier in the year. The new BBC Towns series aims to capture the personality of different towns, their people and history. Will Nick find us as quirky and faded as Sugartown?

  1. Yes I hope people realise that Filey is an interesting and diverse town . All my visitors think it is a 'gem of a town', and love the small shops, beautiful coast line and particularly like that the Front is not overwhelmed by amusement arcades. It is also a good centre, as trains, and the coach to London, and an excellent local bus service quickly make it part of a wider world .
