|The Rainbows with Rainbow bear , at St Oswalds this morning|
I am waiting for my Scarborough Family to arrive. My daughter and son- in- law have taken small boys +bicycles to the country park to ride off some energy, now that the stabilisers have been removed, and hard hats bought.
We have our Sunday meal together all sorted so that hardly any work is involved.
- oven chips
- salad (rocket, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and lots of those little carrots from Angela's)
- Four packs 2 for £3 Chicken Kievs
- Tub Icecream
- Punnet Spanish Stawberries(liberally sprinkled with Canderel)
- Pack of Blacksticks Blue Cheese(love at first bite apparantly)
- Oat cakes
Spouse has laid the table, I have read the paper, and sneaked onto the PC.
This sort of day will probably be played out all over the country, with variations on the theme involving Children and /or Partners cooking, meals at a local pub or restaurant, mothers cooking a roast for everyone with family washing up whilst Mum enjoys her Cadburys Roses and real Roses.

The Mothering Sunday Service at St Oswalds was lovely today. Normally I am on the mental defensive, thinking of a friend who will never be a mother, of another friend whose son has totally estranged himself from the family, and another who hates Family Services and the intrusion of noise into her well ordered single life.
Today Mary changed the format in this well loved service at this ancient Mother Church of St Oswalds. A candle was lit, a short silence invited us all to remember mothers who are separated from us by death for instance.
