1 When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion,
we were like men who dreamed.
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
"The LORD has done great things for them."
3 The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy. (NIV)
How difficult it must be for those that have relatives in prison, even more when the imprisonment seems unjust . At times like that God seems far away, prayers unanswered, despair a close companion. Come the day of release it's a different matter, we then realise that God had a plan all along, the tears, the sleepless nights, all had a purpose. The ultimate term of imprionment is a death sentence. As Easter nears, we reflect on the agonies, the tears, the despair of Jesus and his Family as the Cross loomed. We then share the joy, the laughter and renewal as he arose from the dead. A promise of eternal life for all Christians, so that we can be with him and the Glory of his Father for ever.
There are hundreds, if not thousands of Christians around the world who are in prison for nothing other than spreading the Gospel. Please can we pray for them and their families and for all prisoners and their families, both from Filey and throughout the country.
