excited or numb? optimistic or depressed?

how did you feel when you found out that a member of the british national party is 'representing' us at the european parliament? not sure how i'm feeling right now. shocked, definitely. disappointed, that's for sure. confused too.

are the people that voted for the bnp are the people i see in the post office queue, the people i see in the local shops, the people i play tennis with, the people i share a pew with at church?

not sure how i really feel about living somewhere where this party has such strong support.

how are you feeling?

In this case 74% of the electorate who chose not to vote

  2. I wonder how many of those who voted for the BNP as a 'protest vote' had bothered to read this http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/index.php
The incredible thing is, the only reason they got those two seats was because so few people bothered to vote at all. They only got a few more votes than last time!! So they DO NOT represent the vast majority of Yorkshire people. They certainly don't represent me!

  3. i read this morning that they actually got fewer votes than the 2004 elections! which makes the low turnout even harder to accept.

  4. To put it in a Filey context 180 votes for the BNP out of 5,500 voters. But because so few voted it became 9% of the votes cast.

Intersting historical parallels with 1930s Germany!!
